ARBITRAR DETENTIONS OF PALESTINIANS CHILDREN IN THE PRISONS OF ISRAEL

The ICSFT receives with great concern the information regarding the detention of Palestinian children in Israeli jails. Indeed, we have known that during the last 3 weeks, Palestinian minors detainees have increased to 350. This refers to the Palestinian Prisoners' Study Center. According to reports, the increase is about 17% since US President Donald Trump recognized Jerusalem as the capital of Israel. Since then, 600 Palestinians have been arrested, of whom 200 are children. The majority of these arrests are in the city mentioned. Subjecting young minors to extrajudicial executions, arbitrary detention, torture and deportation is a flagrant violation of international law, including the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the Universal Declaration on the Rights of the Child, the Declaration on the Protection of All Persons against Torture and Other Cruel, Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment. In the four corners of the world, people have come out against the decision of the North American president as well as against Tel-Aviv's crackdown on the people of Palestine. Both the decision of the United States agent and the acts of terror by Israel are a flagrant violation of United Nations Security Council Resolution 2334. Given these troubling and consistent crimes in the Middle East, ICSFT demands:
  1. The US Government to respect the statements quoted in this press release as well as UN Security Council Resolution 2334.
  2. The Government of Israel also to respect the statements quoted, the resolution mentioned and cease hostile acts against the Palestinian people.
  3. To the United Nations Security Council to take legal and necessary measures to ensure that international law in the Middle East ceases to be violated. Especially in the context of Human Rights.
Geneva, the 28th of December 2017.
