The hypocrisy continues at the HRC34

Saudi Arabia just voiced concern over and disassociates it self from resolution HRC/33/L.15 titled freedom of religion or belief. A resolution that condemns violence and acts of terrorism that are alarmingly increasing and targeting individuals, including persons belonging to religious minorities.

The Saudi ambassador claimed his country has a great track record in this regard and this kind of vague resolution will cause"public disorder"; hence the reasoning behind Saudi Arabia's voice of disassociation.

However the reality is Saudi Arabia continues to repress pro-reform activists and peaceful dissidents. Currently dozens of prominent activists convicted on charges arising from their peaceful activities are serving long prison sentences. Ruthless government reprisal remains and human rights defenders are becoming endangered species in Saudi Arabia.

Further Saudi Arabia systematically discriminates against Muslim religious minorities, including in public education, justice systems, religious freedom, and equal employment.

Regardless of saudi's remarks the resolution on freedom of religion and or belief was adopted with out a vote.
