14th Dec 2015 – in the midst of an ongoing conflict and a major humanitarian crisis, Yemen's parties to the conflict agree to a seven-day ceasefire ahead of UN-sponsored peace talks in Switzerland.   The UN has declared its highest-level humanitarian emergency in Yemen. The ongoing war on Yemen rendered millions of Yemeni people homeless and vulnerable. Of note, recent statistics show that almost 80 percent of the Yemeni populations are in need of humanitarian aid. The imposed war has caused almost 6,000 deaths in the recent 7 months, mostly civilians, among which 637 were children. According to BBC, the Saudi-led coalition airstrikes against the so called rebel group have injured roughly 26,568 civilians and deprived the access to survival commodities and basic services of 21 million, with 1.7 million children at the risk of malnutrition. Previous UN efforts have failed to narrow differences between the factions, and past ceasefires have failed to hold. Our organization commends all parties on the new ceasefire agreement of seven-day truce and hope they will commit to the ceasefire this time. We call up on the Saudi- led coalition to commit to the peace talk in good faith with the view of attaining sustainable political solution for Yemen that has the best interest of Yemeni people at its core. The UN has invited a new round of peace talk between Hadi's government and representatives of both Ansarullah Movement and Popular Conference Party, and we sincerely wish all parties could find a common ground this time, and provide long-lasting peace, stability, and prosperity for their own people who are suffering the most during this deadly war launched by Saudi-led coalition.   ختم المجلس الدولى
