Adjourning the trial of Human Rights Defender Hussain Berweez Until 7th of April

Barweez-Photo Hussain court session adjourned until 7th of April with him remaining in custody. He is with two other people in the case, one is Abbas Baddah from Sitra, and the other is a Kuwaiti MP Abdulhameed Dashti. Hussain is the first defendant. He is accused of collecting money without permission.                             Hussain spoke before the judge & said: "I am a human rights defender & I dreamt of a country where human rights defenders in it are respected. I was beaten, punched, kicked & tortured. I was prevented from sleep. I was threatened to be raped by a hose in my anus. I was sexually harassed. I don’t know why I am still held behind bars. I call upon you to release me. I didn't commit any crime & those confessions in front of you were all taken under torture. I have given my testimony to the Special Investigate Unit in the Public Prosecution about all of that in details. I am chairman of the European Bahraini Organization for Human Rights, and I have not committed any crime."
