International Crime : Saudi Arabia’s embargo on Yemen

The Arab coalition led by Saudi Arabia responded to the launch of a missile carried out by the Houthis last week against the International Airport of Riyadh by placing a sea, land and air embargo on Yemen. Another crime to add to the list of crimes perpetrated by Saudi Arabia, supported by the silence of the international community.

The above stated attack has not caused any victim nor any material damage. The US government mentioned that Iran might be behind the attack. However, the unfounded accusations are part of a power game carried out by the US in the region.

The armed conflict in Yemen caused 10’000 lives in more than 2 years. This humanitarian tragedy without precedents where more than 50’000 cases of cholera are present since April 2017. The victims suffer the wrath of Saudi Arabia, who is equipped with bombs coming from the EU and the USA in order to defend their selfish interests.

ICSFT reminds that beginning 2017, Saudi Arabia duplicated its attacks against the Yemeni people, especially against the Houthi community. The community is very poor and it’s characterized by the fact that it lives on very important oil reserves. The black oil is a source of wars and causes massacres in the whole world. Yemen is living one of the biggest genocides and is holding on its territory an enormous amount of energy resources coming from the entire world.

The panorama shows that Saudi Arabia, who’s looking to become the biggest power in the Gulf region with the help of western powers, has to terminate any conflict with the Yemeni population. For this reason the international community and the so called democratic powers, such as the US and UK, are being silent. Let’s keep in mind the geostrategic and political interests that these countries have in the Gulf.

ICSFT condemns and rejects these attacks and:

  1. Demands the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights to open an inquiry on the atrocious cases in Yemen and to renounce and condemn the crimes perpetrated by the Saudi-led coalition, supported by major world powers.

  2. Consider that the Yemeni people, in their right to defend themselves, have the right to form alliances with any country in the region and to take measures to find a soluition to the conflict.

  3. Demand the international community to speak out and condemn these atrocious human rights violations promoted by the coalition that ICSFT considers as a coalition of “death”.
