Is This Saudi Arabia’s Newest Strategy To protect Human Rights?

Saudi Arabian human rights activist, Mohammed Abdullah al-Otaibi has been deported from Qatar to Saudi Arabia.

Qatar stated that the deportation took place on 24 May and was based on legal procedures and regional agreements.

The Norwegian Ministry of Justice confirmed that a Saudi human rights activist had been granted a travel permit in Norway as a UN refugee.

Amnesty International has denounced an alarming situation of deportation of activists in Saudi Arabia, calling to prove its respect for human rights.

This situation is not the first; Saudi Arabia has committed "gross and systematic human rights violations" near and on its territory. It also used its position in the Human Rights Council to hinder justice after possible war crimes.

Furthermore the Saudis are leading a military coalition that has carried out illegal and murderous air strikes on markets, hospitals and schools in Yemen.

The repression of any form of protest is continuing in the country. It includes trials that are contrary to the most basic human rights, long sentences of imprisonment, tortures… all of this imposed on peaceful opponents and human rights defenders.

Let us not forget that Human Rights Watch called the United Nations General Assembly to suspend Saudi Arabia from the High Council for Human Rights.

Saudi Arabia's main allies, including the United States and the United Kingdom, have not stopped transfers of weapons to be used In Yemen, despite multiple evidence of war crimes. In addition, it appears that some Saudis finance Jihadist terrorism.

ICSFT condemns persecution in Saudi Arabia, the Saudis must release prisoners of conscience immediately and unconditionally and stop resorting to the death penalty.

ICSFT urges the Saudi government to stop the repression of activists, as well as tortures. And again ICSFT condemns arms sales to Saudi Arabia, which contribute to the destruction of countries and other crimes.
