Kuwait supports integration of women’s rights within the United Nations system

Kuwait confirmed in front of the 24th session of the United Nations Council for Human Rights yesterday: September 17, 2013, its support for the integration of women's human rights within the United Nations system .
Diplomatic attached to said Kuwait's permanent delegation to the United Nations Rania Al Mulaifi in a speech in front of the Council that Kuwait 's support comes to enhancing the status of women in the countries and international organizations.
She briefed the Council on the approach of Kuwait in promoting the status of women in society, cross-sectional create a women's association in 1962 , an association « Renaissance family » in order to enable women to play their role in development , and the enactment of laws that regulate the establishment of associations of women's non -governmental as; socio-cultural women's club girl and other associations.
She explained that these associations have an impact on advancing women's development , and support for women to get jobs which ranged up to leadership positions in the ministries of the state and in the field of police , and finally in the judiciary .
She drew the attention that Kuwaiti women have reaped the fruits of their efforts to obtain political rights to run and vote in the legislative and municipal councils in 2003.
According to The choice of Kuwaiti women for these positions - was the result of giving them the right to education, employment and providing an appropriate environment to work and growing up in a society keen on gender equality , a principle which was adopted by the Kuwaiti Constitution when equated everyone in human dignity, before the law.
She explained that : Kuwait's constitution guarantees the principle of equal opportunities among citizens , and stressed the right to work and to choose the type , local laws also includes several provisions that protect working women and ensure their equality with men .
At the same time , Mrs. Al Mulaifi said that Kuwait 's accession to the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women ( CEDAW ) in 1994, a clear indication of the extent of attention given to women, and confirm its position as the nucleus of society and an effective component of development.
