The International Council Supporting Fair Trial and Human Rights is in a solidarity with Ali Mushaima in his new step towards for the release of Mr. Hassan Mushaima and his right to treatment and affirms his priority in demanding and fully supporting for all the human rights stipulated in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

The Council affirms that the actions of the authorities in Bahrain in dealing with Professor Hassan and all prisoners of conscience are a flagrant violation of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights and the Convention against Torture and Other Cruel, Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment, and the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights. In addition, Bahrain does not adhere to the United Nations Standard Minimum Rules for the Treatment of Prisoners (the Nelson Mandela Rules), which are required to provide adequate conditions to ensure that prisoners enjoy their full rights.

We renew our demand on the Bahraini authorities to immediately release all detainees, including Professor Hassan Mushaima, as his detention based on his right to express his opinion is illegal and does not comply with any standards of fair trial. We also demand that he be granted the right to treatment. We hold the Bahraini authorities fully responsible for the health and life of the fighter Hassan Mushaima.
