Israeli ministers have backed a bill making it illegal for human rights groups to film its troops’ actions in the Palestinian territories in a move that paves the way for military abuses.

The ban would cover social networks as well as traditional media. The immediate result of such a prohibition is serious harm to the possibility of protecting human rights and overseeing the army’s activity.
