In honour of those martyred at the onset of Free Zakzaky processions in Abuja and Kaduna, silent meditations were offered today to mark the fortieth day since their martyrdom at the Daily Free Zakzaky Sit Out being conducted at the Unity Fountain, Abuja.

It will be recalled that series of free Zakzaky processions were embarked upon by members of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria and other activists and sympathizers earlier this year to press for the immediate release of Sheikh Ibraheem Zakzaky, whose health situation nosedived for the worst while in illegal detention.

Rather than comply with the judgement of the court and meet the demand of the peaceful protesters, the police opened fire on them, with deaths recorded in Abuja, Kaduna and Zaria.
